The book presents the production of German-Brazilian architect Franz Heep during the post-war development of the city of São Paulo, assisting in the construction of the emerging metropolis between 1945 and 1960. If during his European period he balanced between Adolf Meyer’s German rationalism and the freedom of Le Corbusier’s architectural culture, in São Paulo Heep adapted to the economic, legal and climatic conditions of the country, contributing to the creation of the modern Brazilian architectural vocabulary. The graphic design of the book explores asymmetrical compositions within a rigid grid, creating the layouts page-by-page by balancing text blocks, technical drawings and images.
